Models are necessary for each development stage within product development, regardless of the selected material and further use.

The earlier solutions can be found regarding design and function, the more effective the further development process will be.

This shows the comprehensive high importance of precise models and prototypes in the decisive development stages. In order to get an exact impression of the future completed product as quickly as possible already in the development stage, we use rapid prototyping.

 

The term rapid prototyping serves as a generic term for many procedures of a model production, which is characterized by its speed and uncomplicatedness. Rapid prototyping is a special form of normal prototyping whose approach originates from manufacturing technology. Here, the production of prototypes is automated by machines, in which the dimensions and properties are read in by digitally existing models and then specified to the processing machine.

Many companies rely on the use of modern 3D printers for the production of prototypes. LES GRAVEURS has consciously decided against this and uses milling machines for the production of models. The advantage over 3D printers is that milling machines are significantly more precise, since even with prototypes the accuracy of the models is crucial.

• Prototypes as an early optimization opportunity
  Prototypes allow the customer and us to take a closer look at the appearance and nature of the workpiece in an initial model. Its feasibility can be checked and the product optimized in joint collaboration. This results in time and money savings for the customer.


• Model making for presentation purposes
  A very important application of models is in the presentation at trade fairs or other exhibitions. Especially where the sale of products is concerned and an audience is addressed. Only through models that can actually be looked at and possibly also demonstrated can interest be aroused in potential customers. Therefore, a precise and already high-quality processed model is very decisive for the later sale.


• Construction and architectural modeling
  Especially in the field of architecture and in construction projects, models are of fundamental importance. Whether for the entire building or for individual parts within it, it is important to have a model as a template, since sketches or simple descriptions have significantly less significance. Models can then be used to realistically model different components in order to optimize the building as effectively as possible in advance.
